The snowmobile community is grieving… our beloved, kick off to winter event, Hay Days Grass Drags has been cancelled, rather “postponed” to its regular date next year, September 11-12, 2021. Snowmobilers and sled heads everywhere are bummed, there’s nothing we can say that can make this any better. The Thunderstruck party on Friday night at the Wild River Pub will be empty; sledders won’t be able to creatively attach their ‘dolla bills’ to the ceiling this year. Industry events and parties, new product releases, the swap, races, freestyle shows, shopping at vendors, all gone… where will everyone get their gear for the upcoming riding season? We hope Dave Norona’s vintage suit lasted him through the season, otherwise where will he get one for this year?!

Companies will be affected; there's no doubt that the industry has taken a bit of a gut punch. We’re with you. We feel the pain, disappointment and frustration with the world right now, and we want nothing more than for things to “go back to normal”, whatever that might mean. This is an event we’ve been staffing for years, one that is near and dear to our hearts given our background in the snowmobile industry, and so we are just as upset as you all.

BUT - we all know how strong and resilient the snowmobile community is. From East to West, North to South, World Wide. THIS is an industry that supports each other regardless of what is going on in the world. Good times and bad, we’re there for each other. So sure, get your frustrations out, write your posts, but then DO something. “What can I do”, you ask?

Well for starters, just because Hay Days isn’t being held in North Branch, Minnesota, doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate the start of winter in our own way. Connect with your local snowmobile club, sled buddies or family members and set something up! Heck, how many people can we get on a zoom call? Just a thought… The beauty about the sled community is that we don’t give up.

NEXT - support the industry if you can. We get that it’s a tough time for all, but if you were planning on getting parts or gear at Hay Days, buy online through your favorite retailer. Winter isn’t cancelled, so just because it’s kickoff event is, doesn’t mean we can’t still prep and get excited for that white pow to start falling.

THEN - share your pictures from last years Hay Days event, tag your friends, sponsors, favorite companies. We’re fortunate to have the power of social media (#SleddersUnite) to continue to connect with each other. Even though we won’t see each other in person this year, we’re all still here. Virtual hugs aren’t as good as the real thing, it’s hard to cheers someone through a screen, and it’s not as easy to shop for a new helmet online but we’ll make do. After all, we’re sledders, and sledders stop at nothing to support each other. We’ve got this.

Cheers to 2021, a better and bigger year to come. We’ll be there, ready to see you all.
