This Spring our brand ambassadors noticed more and more events opening back up across North America, especially in the United States. For some, it has been over 12 months since working a live event. As we all know, in 2020 many live events were cancelled, postponed, or moved onto a digital platform. Adapting to this change in marketing has been a crucial pivot for many event staff, however now this year it is shaping up to be busier than ever! This week we take a look into top tips for getting back into your promotional roles and how to stand-out to any agency.

Here are our top 6 tips for kickstarting your event schedule and getting back into promotional brand ambassador work!

1. Email your contacts - Even during 2020 many HR/Staffing roles were furloughed, however many have regained momentum this year. Email or call your previous managers, not only to catch up over the past year, but to also let them know you are ready to work live events.

2. Refresh your Photos - If you have worked live events during the pandemic with PPE be sure to update your promotional photos to reflect this. Having this experience lets agencies know you are adaptable and prepared for what each venue may require. Annually you should update your promotional photos in order to keep your profile prepared for optimal applications to event work.

3. Update Your Resume - Keeping your resume information (such as contact information, etc) accurate is crucial to applying for event work. Your resume represents your work history, successes, and experiences in the marketing world. Making sure your resume stands out and reflects the capabilities of you is very important. 4. Adjust your location - Events are opening up in a regional pattern, so make sure your location settings on portals are correct for the location you live in and also the distance you are willing to travel for event work.

5. Capitalize on Education - If during 2020 you furthered your education with new degrees, diplomas or online certifications be sure to share that on your resume, and mention it in your application email. Enhancing your knowledge of the event industry and marketing world is a great accomplishment! Be sure to showcase your hard work.

6. Reconnect with your Network - Insight from previous coworkers or managers can provide perspective on what their experience has been. From previous jobs, reach out to fellow brand ambassadors to ask them questions on their successes, and what tactics have worked well for them in finding event work.
